Broken Halo IPA recipe
Wednesday, January 31st, 2007http://www.widmer.com/beer_brokenhalo.aspx
looking to see if anyone has a clone for this or could whip up a recipe from the description. also, i’m not familiar with the Alchemy hops & what should be substituted if not available. i’m assuming they are using Columbus/Zeus interchangeably & not both. thanks for any input on this. AG or partial extract.

Broken Halo IPA is a beer produced in the spirit of traditional IPA products shipped from the UK to India in the late 1800s. The almost excessive amounts of Cascade and Columbus hops used in Broken Halo give it notable citrus and grapefruit aromas and flavors. The beer bitterness measures high but tastes smooth due to the full-bodied, Caramel malt sweetness. The finish is juicy, clean, and short lived. A devilishly bold, heavenly smooth India Pale Ale.

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007Bell’s Hopslam Clone
Friday, January 12th, 2007I’m wanting to clone Bell’s Hopslam … love that DIPA, tastes like grapefruit! I think a simple grain bill, around 1.090 OG and use 1056 as the yeast.
But, I need some advice on hops. I’m thinking Simcoe to bitter and Amarillo for flavor. This was discussed on the NB board, so I know it’s not Centennial. Any thoughts?

Thursday, January 11th, 2007Tell me about PacMan yeast
Sunday, January 7th, 2007Ok I’ve heard a lot about the Pacman yeast and just ordered some, but somewhere in all this, I missed what styles this is good for… I prefer to brew darker ales - anything from browns to stouts… What has been your experience with it?
So give me the scoop… any special care for it? I’m looking forward to using this for a few generations. TIA
