Open Source Beer Name Announced

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

We have decided on a name for the Open Source Beer.  Keeping in line with the tradition of Doppelbock names ending in “ATOR” (see the 9th paragraph), the Open Source Beer will be called “Collaborator” as a tribute to all of those that helped us create the recipe.
Collaborator will be the latest edition in the […]

Everyone involved in making Cure for What Ales You happen loves the interweb and you probably do too. I know since my neighbors got a computer (that was capable of logging onto AOL 1.0 or whatever was out then) in or around 1996, I have been hypnotized by online media.
What’s really awesome is that over […]

Happy Birthday Hunter

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Reminder to the People’s Republic of Flying Dog:
Go out today and celebrate the life of our good friend and co-conspirator, Hunter Thompson. His journalism and social commentary are timeless. So open one of his books, take a stand, live by your own set of rules and most of all have fun, even if it’s only for […]

The People’s Republic of Flying Dog is now in session.
It’s happy hour at Flying Dog Brewery, so here is your latest dose of irreverence. I had a whole newsletter written that was really funny, if I do say so myself. But as is the trend in America today, Eric Warner Flying Dog Brewery president, abused his executive privilage and vetoed it. So […]

Jaime

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

We had the extreme pleasure of recording show 124 with one of our fans from Pittsburgh. Her name is Jaime and she brought the band, Incommunicado, all the way to Muncie with her. In turn, we pulled out all stops and sampled some killer beer. A few have never been released to […]

Open Source Beer Recipe Finalized

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

As far as malt we have decided to go with Wyerman malt. We incorporate this malt in some of our other beers and we have had medal winning success. As far as verities, we are going to keep things on the simpler side. For the base malt we will be using Munich Type 1 this […]

Yellow Cup - Red Cup

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Show 123 was a suprise. I was not expecting a blind taste test. First, I have to brag about the whole Abita Wheat thing.
Commercial Description:
Unlike traditional German wheat beers produced by other breweries, Abita Wheat is a lager, not an ale, contains a generous amount of wheat and, therefor, has a clean, simple […]

CBR 81: Finding Salvation

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

Salvation, Salvation, Collaboration. This week we try two beers named Salvation, one from Russian River and one from Avery. Then we try the beer that the brewers made together, Collaboration, not Litigation. Collaboration is a blend of the two Salvations and we decided that if they could do it, then why can’t we? At the end of the show we try to determine just what ratio was used for the blend.

Beers:

Ranking:

  • Jeff - 1. Russian River, 2. Collaboration, 3. Avery
  • Greg - 1. Russian River, 2. Collaboration, 3. Avery

What to do with Hunter

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

The People’s Republic of Flying Dog is now in session.
It’s happy hour at Flying Dog Brewery, so here is your latest dose of irreverence. Last newsletter, I asked for help figuring out what to do with the Hunter Thompson mannequin that was dropped off at the Brewery. The easy answer was […]

GABF

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

I guess it’s almost time to get this one started. GABF is Oct 11-14 this year, who’s going?

SWMBO and I will be out on Thursday night and fly back to Nashville on Sunday. We’re staying at The Curtis, a hotel just a block away from the festival. This is our first time out there (and to Denver for that matter), so we’re really stoked about it.

Who else is in?
